Privacy Policy

This page describes what TowCheck actually does with your data. It is a working draft and has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer — treat it as accurate about the app's behavior, not as final legal copy.

Free tier

All of your saved profiles — trucks, trailers, people, animals, and gear — are stored locally on your device using SQLite. Your saved profiles are never transmitted off your device. TowCheck does not create accounts and uses no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. It does record a small amount of anonymous, first-party usage information, described under Usage metrics below.

Terms acceptance

When you accept TowCheck's in-app terms, the app sends a randomly generated per-install identifier, the terms version you accepted, and the date and time of acceptance to TowCheck's backend, where they are stored to record your agreement. This identifier is not linked to your name, email, or Apple ID, is not used to track you, and resets if you delete and reinstall the app.

Usage metrics

To understand how many people use TowCheck and which features they use, the app sends anonymous usage events to TowCheck's backend — for example, that the app was opened, that a verdict was calculated and whether it was green, amber, or red, that a truck, trailer, person, animal, or gear item was added, that the pre-tow checklist or a saved profile was used, or that the paywall or a Pro AI feature was opened. Each event carries the same randomly generated per-install identifier described under Terms acceptance, along with coarse technical details — the app version and the major iOS version. No personal information is included, and none of your vehicle, weight, or trip figures are sent — only that an action of a given type happened, on a given day. This information is first-party, is used only to understand overall usage in aggregate, is never used to track you or build an advertising profile, and the identifier resets if you delete and reinstall the app.

Pro tier — purchases

Pro purchases are processed by Apple and RevenueCat. TowCheck does not handle your payment information directly.

Pro tier — AI photo weight estimator

When you use the AI photo weight estimator, a photo is sent from your device to TowCheck's backend, which forwards it to Anthropic's API to generate a weight estimate. The photo is processed transiently for that estimate and is not stored afterward.

Support form

If you submit the support contact form, your message and reply-to email address are sent to our support inbox by email. This information is not stored anywhere beyond that email.
